Welcome Back: Providing for our Kids

Welcome Back: Providing for our kids

As the new school year begins, we want to make sure that our kids have all the tools and services to have a successful and rewarding school year. From providing nutritious meals and access to free health care to making sure the kids have the school supplies they need, we want to remove barriers for kids to be successful.

Food Service

To make sure all kids are coming to school ready to learn, Kearsley Community Schools provides Universal Breakfast free to all students. In addition, the majority of our students are eligible for free or reduced-priced school lunches. Parents can go online to the Kearsley website (www.kearsleyschools.org) under the District, Food Service tabs to apply for free and reduced-priced school lunches or contact Christina Mascorro at cmascorro@kearsleyschools.org or at (810) 591-5409.

Health Care

In an effort to provide our kids with needed health care, Kearsley Community Schools has partnered with Regional Alliance for Healthy Schools (RAHS), a division of Michigan Medicine, to provide health care services. RAHS is located in room 603 at Kearsley High School and is open to everyone 21 years of age and younger.

Services include immunizations, sick visits, physical exams, nutrition counseling, insurance enrollment and mental health services.  Insured and uninsured patients, regardless of ability to pay, are welcome.

School Supplies

Kearsley Schools supplies all materials that kids need to be successful in their learning.  Textbooks, pencils, paper, crayons, scissors, etc. are available to all students. While many parents like to purchase school supplies for their children, there is no obligation to do so as those items will be available in your child’s classroom. We encourage parents to reach out to their children’s teacher(s) or the building principal if your child is not comfortable asking for supplies.
