On October 23, Kearsley Schools hosted our English Learners (EL) students and their families for a family night at the KHS media center.
MSU Extension 4-H staff Catherine Slayton from Genesee County, Adrianna Ramirez from Kent County, and Patricia Monterrosa from Ingham County collaborated on this groundbreaking event. The children enjoyed activities that captured the fun and spirit of 4-H while parents connected with program staff and learned about the resources available to them through MSU Extension. The Michigan 4-H Foundation funded dinner for all attendees and goodie bags for each child. These goodie bags included a 4-H-branded sucker, pencil, and a culturally reflective book in the child’s preferred language, making this event both memorable and meaningful for every family in attendance.
The event was well-attended and provided an overview of the various academic and support services provided by our district. Thank you to all that attended and to EL Coordinator Kristy Crosby and Family Engagement Educator Diana Bowman for hosting a wonderful evening for our families!
