The HORNET AWARD was presented to Diana Bowman, Armstrong Middle School Science teacher, at last night’s Kearsley Community Schools Board of Education meeting.
Excerpt from her nomination:
Mrs. Bowman serves as a professional learning facilitator for MiSTAR Science program, supporting our Armstrong Middle School staff, along with staff from other districts around Genesee County. She is dedicated to helping improved science education and puts countless hours into supporting others on this journey outside of her normal teaching responsibilities. Diana was instrumental in last year’s collaboration between Armstrong MS and For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum in the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative (GLSI) pilot project, resulting in our 8th grade students sharing their work as citizen scientists with our community at For-Mar’s Stewardship Day. Last week, she presented alongside a representative from For-Mar at the GLSI Climate Conversations workshop. The work she is leading inspires educators and leaders from across the county to dive deeper into place-based education initiatives.
