Kearsley High School hosted the annual Financial Reality Fair on December 4. It is an interactive finance education experience for students. Students identified their career choice and entry level wages, then completed a budget requiring them to live within their monthly salary while paying for basics such as housing, utilities, transportation, clothing, and food. Throughout the Fair, students learned how to balance their "wants vs. needs."
Derek Lewis from Financial Plus Credit Union worked with our students in the lead up to the event. He visited the students in our Economics and Political Science classes to talk about various personal finance subjects.
Volunteers from the Flint-area credit unions helped to run the event.
Thank you Financial Plus Credit Union, ELGA Credit Union, Sovita Credit Union, Dort Financial, PFCU, Security Credit Union, and the Michigan Credit Union League & Affiliates.
