MiTown State Champions

Kearsley High School students are the State Champions in the MiTown Economic Development Challenge!

Two KHS teams competed at Federal Reserve in Detroit on March 3 against other high school team from around the state. Our KHS team, comprising Ava Salem, Brianna Sierra, Cameron Welch, Audrina Grathoff, and Ethan Sellers, beat out schools to win the statewide competition.

Our other competing group consisted of students Aziyah Charles, Lyliana Sanson-Espinoza, and Al'lyssa Wallace did a great job with their presentation.

The MiTown Economic Development Challenge is a competition where students are challenged to analyze their local economic situation and challenges within the greater scope of Michigan, then devise a plan where the local government and all relevant stakeholders can improve the economic landscape of their hometown.

Each member of the winning team, and their advisor Mike Whalen, was awarded a $250 cash prize. They brought home a large champion banner to hang at KHS.
