The HORNET AWARD was presented to April Yorks, Kearsley High School & Armstrong Middle School French teacher, at the January 9 Kearsley Community Schools Board of Education meeting.
April retired from Kearsley in 2020 after serving many years as a teacher, principal and curriculum director. PA 184 signed into law in late July which allowed retired teachers to come back to the classroom.
Excerpt from her nomination:
April came back out of retirement to teach at both AMS/KHS when we were left in a pinch at the beginning of this year! Finding a French teacher so late in the game was literally impossible. April just stepped up and took charge and never missed a beat...April may have single handedly literally saved our French program. April, thank you for all you’ve done for our this year and enjoy retirement #2!
Thank you to the Mark Owen Agency - MEEMIC Agent of Davison for their continued support of this award.
