Message from Mr. Gaudard

Kearsley Families,

Due to an unfortunate delay in the arrival of the transformer that will power our new Community Recreation Center, which was originally slated to be installed the week of July 4th, we must shift the installation to Friday, August 9th through Friday, August 16th.  In order to properly complete the cutover, all power must be shut off at both Kearsley High School and the Administration Building during this installation window.

While this impacts several school events, completing this work now is critical.  A disruption in mid-August is far more preferable to disrupting classes and operations once school officially begins on Monday, August 26th.  Below is a list of impacted events and the alternate locations or plans for the various events:

District-wide events

  • Our Family Movie Night event will be rescheduled for Thursday, August 22nd.  Same time and location.

  • The August 12th Board of Education meeting will be moved to the Fiedler Media Center.

  • The University of Michigan Medicine Regional Alliance of Health Schools (RAHS) clinic at KHS will be closed from Friday, August 9th through Friday, August 16th.  Any families seeking appointments or treatment during that time may call (810-285-9815) or visit (3807 N. Center Road) the RAHS clinic located at Richfield Academy.

KHS Events

  • Band Camp will proceed as scheduled until Friday, August 9th when activities will take place outside and on the football field.  Water and port-a-johns will be provided.

  • New student enrollments will be moved to the week of August 6th.  Those impacted will receive a phone call to reschedule.

KHS Athletics

  • KHS Swim Practice will be moved to Grand Blanc High School and take place from Noon-2pm for the week of August 12th.  A bus will transport athletes to Grand Blanc and will leave the KHS front loop at 11:15am and return at approximately 2:45pm.

  • KHS Volleyball Tryouts and practices will be moved to AMS.  All times will remain the same.

  • All other athletic practices will proceed as scheduled and remain unaffected, however, student-athletes will not be allowed access to the building.

Kearsley High School, Central Office administration and staff along with the transportation and maintenance departments will be temporarily relocated to Dowdall Elementary.  District wide phone service and internet access should be unaffected.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we adjust events to ensure this inconvenience is a minor one.

Sincerely,

Paul Gaudard
Superintendent
Kearsley Community Schools
